Every organization places a great value on time. A secretary who doesn’t keep track of time won’t be effective in the workplace. In order to accomplish the objectives set forth by the business, the secretary must be able to effectively manage both her own and her boss’s time.
Time is the only resource that is unprejudiced, available to everyone in an equal amount, doesn’t cost us any money, and is entirely at our disposal. We are unable to save it, plan our expenditures with it, never have enough of it, and cannot get it back once we have used it. On the other hand, it has been noted that time wastage is the main reason for the secretary’s subpar performance at work. Good secretaries are capable of managing both their own affairs and those of others. According to Bennett (1989), time is the mysterious foundation of everything.
There are numerous definitions of time. We occasionally hear people on a day of 24 hours claim that the day is too sluggish, while others say that it is fast. Even one year can be deemed either too lengthy or too short. Time is money, as the adage goes. It is always crucial that time be used well or controlled effectively.
In order to satisfy the boss’s objectives and provide better results at work, an effective secretary prioritizes her day’s tasks.
Time waters are ineffective methods for conducting chores that must be done, according to Aromolaran (2000). He continued by saying that office workers who waste time are likewise considered to have vices that prohibit them from achieving their goals at the right time.
A excellent secretary should be able to complete the work without supervision and always accept duties without complaining.
According to Akinola (1999), a secretary is “a very significant person in a company,” and their contributions can either improve or negatively impact an organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.
