This final year project aims to explore language variation in online DIY communities by examining the different linguistic features used by members across various DIY platforms. The study will investigate the factors influencing language variation, such as community norms, levels of formality, and individual characteristics. A comprehensive literature review will be conducted to provide background information on language variation and online communities. The research methodology will involve data collection through online observations and interviews with members of different DIY communities. Data analysis will be conducted using qualitative methods to identify patterns of language variation and their implications.
