ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the impact of tricycle on socio-economic development in Akwa Ibom State: a study of Uyo Metropolis. To achieve this objective, three research questions and two research hypotheses were formulated to guide this study. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentages and tables to analyze research questions and Chi-square statistical tool was used for testing of research hypotheses using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. A structured questionnaire was used as the major instrument for data collection from the respondents in Uyo Metropolis. After careful analysis of the data, the following findings were revealed that; taxation is a major tool for revenue generation in economic growth of an economy. The study was concluded with some recommendations that government should create job opportunities and employment for the people so as to reduce the adverse effect of tricycle (keke) on socio-economic activities in Akwa Ibom State.
